The below articles are a list of articles all published about ear infections and antibiotics,
In the last few years we have sean a sharp increase in doctors awareness that antibiotics are not ticktack’s and should not be subscribed carelessly.

A seasonal nuisance both kids and adults experience is swimmer's ear (technically called "otitis externa," or "outer ear infection").
This oftentimes painful condition is caused by swelling, irritation, bacteria, or fungus growing on the ear canal skin. The most common source of this infection is increased moisture from humidity, warmth, and...

For swimmers, it also acts as a water repellent (although the “swimmer’s ear” infection can result if the wax traps water behind it). An acute ear infection is a sudden and usually brief infection of the middle ear. Doctors call it acute otitis media or purulent otitis media.
Unlike glue ear, an acute ear infection generally causes ear pain or earache and may also cause a fever. We found only one small, good-quality study (randomised controlled trial). The study found that grommets helped prevent ear infections for six months but not in the long term.
This study was small, including just 44 children. More research is needed to decide whether surgery to put grommets in should be used for ear infections.

What are myringotomy tubes (also called ear tubes, tympanostomy tubes, or ventilation tubes)?

Myringotomy tubes are small tubes that are surgically placed into your child's eardrum by an ear, nose, and throat surgeon. The tubes may be made of plastic, metal, or Teflon®. The tubes are placed to help drain the fluid out of the middle ear in order to reduce the risk of ear infections. During an ear infection, fluid gathers in the middle ear, which can affect your child's hearing. Sometimes, even...

Though adults are not affected as frequently as children, it is important for adults to be aware of how adult ear infection can affect them. Adult ear infection is caused by infection in the Eustachian tube, near the inner ear. The Eustachian tube connects the inner ear to the nasal passages in order to drain fluid from the ears and equalize pressure between outside and inside of the body, but when fluid or mucous builds up in the Eustachian tube, it is an easy target for infection.

Middle ear infections are one of the most common childhood problems. Let’s start by talking about infections. An infection happens when germs like bacteria and viruses get inside the body and cause trouble. Germs can get into your ears. The ear is divided into three parts: outer, middle, and inner. When the germs bother your outer ear, it’s called swimmer’s ear.
The middle ear is a small pocket of air behind the eardrum. You have a middle ear infection when germs get into the middle ear and the...

Prevailing medical treatment - until now, treatment has involved the use of steroids and pseudo-epinephrine to reduce edema, with antibiotic cover for primary bacterial infection or secondary complication. If medical treatment fails and inflammation recurs despite extended antibiotic treatment, the usual practice is to perforate the tympanic membrane and ensure that it remains open by inserting tiny drainage tubes. I used it last night for the recommended time and this morning, the pain is practically gone.

Thanx for the EARDOC. I'm so happy I have one now.
