When Was The Last Time You’ve Experienced Ear Pains?
Ear pains are not fun to experience and can have easily turned a great day into a miserable one. Ear pains can affect anyone at any age. Depending on the severity of your ear pain, there are multiple treatments available. There are also multiple treatments that should not be attempted because they could cause even more pain and harm to your ears.
Washington State University conducted a study and found that treating ear pain with mullein and garlic oil can be up to 100 times more effective than bacteria fighting antibiotics. The study also concluded that the results from the natural oil treatments were felt much quicker than antibiotics. This treatment is much cheaper and much safer than antibiotic use. You can recover faster, and you don’t need to rely on unnatural treatments.
Causes of ear pain:
- Excess Earwax- The buildup of earwax inside the ear can cause ear pain and at times can be mistaken for an ear infection. While ear wax helps protect your inner ear from dirt and other foreign substances, too much earwax can cause pain and discomfort.
- Ear Infection- Usually arise due to a bacterial or viral infection in the fluid that builds up inside the middle ear
- Sinus Infection-Congestion and stuffiness can cause pressure buildup inside your ears
How Do You Safely Treat It?
If the pain is due to Earwax there are several way to treat it. One way to reduce this ear pain is to clean out your ears. You can clean out your ears using peroxide or mineral oil. If you notice discharge in your ear, do not attempt this treatment because it could signal a perforated eardrum. Some people tend treat ear pain with peroxide, but inserting a cotton swab or any other pointed device into your ear is dangerous. If the cotton swab is pushed in too far, it could penetrate the eardrum or push the wax further into your ear. This could cause much more pain and discomfort and in some cases, even deafness.
How You Shouldn’t Treat It
Using cotton swabs to treat ear pains is dangerous, but ear candle treatment is even more dangerous. Ear Candles are tapered cones which are hollowed out and they consist of cloth and are soaked in paraffin or beeswax. At the end of it, there is a narrow funnel and that funnel is placed inside of the ear and then the opposite side of the cone is ignited. Most people are completely dumbfounded upon hearing this treatment even exists. We do don’t recommend this treatment because it can cause injury.
Don’t Let Ear Pains Ruin Your Day
Ear pains can cause a lot of discomfort and can be extremely painful. As previously mentioned, there are multiple ways that you should and shouldn’t treat ear pains. If your ear pains are excruciating and do not go away in a timely manner, it is recommended that you visit a physician. Your health and well-being are very important and you should not have to experience pain on a regular basis.
